Activities
The activities department is dynamic, vibrant and full of offerings at Keystone. Our Activity Director, Kathy
Franklin creates an atmosphere of warmth and cheer. Kathy has 16 years experience in activities. She joined Keystone while we were still under construction in year 2000. While an activity director in Tennessee she won numerous blue ribbons in cooking at the Tennessee state fair with inventive recipes. She also won the Spam
cook-off twice and the Pillsbury bakeoff 3 times at the fair and has cooked her winning dishes on TV shows. She has 8000 cookbooks and counting.
Our 17-passenger bus and mini-van provide numerous social outings to restaurants, picnics, shopping, and mystery
trips,
Black Bear Casino and many other events. Special occasions are also planned each week. Among those are religious observations, cooking, baking, high teas, and other exercise, bingo, card club, happy hour,
frequent musical events in the dining room from sing-a-longs to accordion
music along with many others. Holidays are popular with special events and appropriate food for the event. A popular talent show is
produced annually by Kathy and our
tenants starring the tenants and staff and draws many video cameras from the families and the local Duluth TV news shows.
We have recently started an annual "Fun Fair" that includes
many vendors, games, food etc.
Our big screen theater offers movies and TV anytime with surround sound and popcorn daily.
The wind-protected interior courtyards provide a special place for coffee, tea, and lemonade, with cookies of course.
We also have a paved pathway along the woods that tenants enjoy going out and
taking a walk around a safe path with plenty of places to rest.
